The most important card in a poker hand is the kicker, the card that tops the rankings in any hand. Depending on the card’s ranking, the kicker breaks a tie if several people have the same high card. Another cool thing about a kicker is that it is the highest-ranking card in a deck of high-card hands.
Another poker rule of thumb is that a straight flush is the best natural hand, and a Royal Flush is the best flush of all time. However, you can’t have both. You can achieve the backdoor flush, however, by hitting needed cards on the turn and river.
