While it’s not as straightforward as the other poker variants, a straight is a five-card hand that includes two distinct pairs, along with a fifth card. Sometimes, a hand is referred to as the trip sevens, since the number of cards is a seven.
Another variant is community card poker. Players draw from a deck that is shuffled by the dealer, and the dealer must then offer a shuffled pack of cards to the opponent for cut.
For the most part, a poker game is a series of bets, but a few variations include a “showdown” in which all players show their cards, and the highest hand wins the pot. There are also versions that involve side pots, which can be won by different players.
